Leo Medicine

Hey babes! Happy Leo Season! I’ve created some medicine for you to work with the element of Fire while we are in Leo Season until August 21st. Practice these rituals throughout the month to align with the cosmos and the collective consciousness at this time.

PRACTICE VULNERABILITY

The tarot card association with Leo is the Strength Card. A woman is pictured opening the mouth of the Lion, taking the risk of getting hurt to communicate with the animal. I think of the Lion as a metaphor for the shadow parts of ourselves, and the strength it requires to sit with the discomfort of what hurts. We so often think of vulnerability as sharing our wounds with others, but I believe it starts within - holding even our “shameful” parts with compassion. This Ted Talk by Brene Brown is an amazing as well as her many books, specifically The Gifts of Imperfection and Rising Strong.

FIND YOUR JOY

We are living in intense times, my loves, which is why is it more important that we connect to our own sense of freedom. In a world highlighting so many oppressions, our joy is truly revolutionary! Leo is ruled by the Sun, a bright, illuminating energy that brings a lightness of heart and spirit. Perhaps spending time outdoors connecting to the energy and vitality of Sun energy (sunbathing, sun salutations or charging up your crystals/magical items in the sun). Also try doing some creative projects (just for FUN) or simply doing fun shit - whatever that means to you🌞 Leo LOVES to express their creativity AND be appreciated by others, they are referred to as “the performer” - so how can you let yourself take center stage? What ways can you shine your talents and gifts onto the world? Maybe step out of your comfort zone and into the spotlight? Don’t be afraid to take up MORE SPACE this month loves!🌻

CONNECT TO YOUR SOLAR PLEXUS

The third chakra is known as the Manipura chakra, or city of gems. It is our fire center - our will power, confidence and conversely, fear and shame. Balancing this chakra brings transformation and our sense of personal power and ability to meet challenges. Some of my favorite healing practices for this chakra include:

🕯Candle Gazing meditation

🔥 Kapalbhati breathwork

💦 Vigorous exercise that makes you sweat (detox)

📿Deep relaxation (psoas release) - I do restorative / yin yoga for this, deep belly breathing, legs up on a chair in the evening

☀️ Sun Salutations, greeting the day with gratitude and drawing down the vitality of the sun

🛝 Play and connecting to the inner child through art, dance, nature, journaling, ice cream - what did your younger self love?

💛 Positive Affirmations - “I honor the power within me”, “I can do whatever I will to do” - get specific!
